Just workin'...

For no particular reason, I have always been fascinated by pictures of people just doing their job.  There is something compelling about seeing another person absorbed in work - the attention to detail, level of concentration, and sense that applying oneself will ultimately be its own reward.  Sometimes there's a hint of dissatisfaction, but even so, we labor on and work to live another day.  Others exude a more positive aura, filled with an air of pride and diligence that I find particularly inspiring.  Here are a few pictures of daily life - working hard or hardly working - that I managed to capture so far.

Stretching dough at Padaria Real in Sorocaba

Hand-making "special products", again at Padaria Real

Mixing up a dry-cleaning product at Creative Quimica, Daniel's factory.

Working the switching room at TV Tem in Sorocaba

Machining commercial-grade pasta machines in Tatui

Strolling through the old press room at Journal Cruzero do Sul, Sorocaba

Just shooting the breeze on the street in Sao Paulo

Slinging pastels at the pasteleria in Tatui

Just a glimpse of how a few folks in this part of the world get it done.  Seeing the real-life side of Brazil is one of the most intriguing aspects of a Rotary-sponsored experience, if one takes time to notice the less-obvious scenes along the way.
